Gary's Guide Service

Experienced Captain

Gary has fished the waters around Sturgeon Bay his entire life. From when he was old enough to pick up a fishing rod he was catching fish all around both the Bay and Lake. Since 1987 Gary has guided for Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Perch, Musky, and other "warm water" species. He especially likes the fighting action of the Smallmouth Bass and catching some of Door County's trophy Walleyes.

Gary's love of the waters around Sturgeon Bay, Door County, is second to none. Just ask him. He will tell you it's the #1 "Fishing Hole" in the country. From it's world class Walleye and Smallmouth Bass, along with Northern Pike, Musky, Perch and Whitefish to Lake Michigan Salmon and Trout, there is no where else you'll find a better spot. Try these waters and it's guaranteed you will be "hooked".

My Dad started me and my brother off fishing at 4 and 5 years old. It really helps when you live in an area with such great fishing. The rest is history of over 20 years. I do all of my guiding in Door County, Wisconsin, which is a great place to be as a guide. You can see me at the AYA Green Bay Tournament as tournament director. I also fish several local tournaments as well. We mainly fish for Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Perch and Northern Pike with certain times being better for certain species. Give us a call and we can tailor a trip to meet your needs.

Gary's Guide Service will provide everything you need to have a memorable day on the water. Call today, and come fishing with the best!

Hot New Bait

Some of you may have heard about the new hot bait I'm using or if you haven't here's the story. As most everyone knows I'm a "tube guy" for smallmouth and will always believe that a Venom Stubby Tube in watermelon seed or green pumpkin on a 1/16th or 1/8th ounce Bait Rigs Slo-Poke jig is a very effective bait. They immitate a gobe extremely well and worked slowly will catch SMB all through the year. Definitetly my go to bait. But occasionally they want something else and over the winter I got a tip from a guy about a bait he has had some success with. So like most anglers I had to try one, and I actually caught my first smallie of the year on one. Well this week with the wind and cold weather I was able to catch them on the tubes using a very slow presentation, but I grabbed one of these new things and caught even more, up to 5 in a row. So what is this bait, well I can say right now, and it's not because I want to hoard them all for myself or make anyone mad, but I just need a little time with them. Time to make sure the aren't a "one hit wonder", and to perfect the presentation before I send everyone out to buy these baits and they only worked for a few days (that would make you madder) or they are even better with some presentation changes. So stay tuned here for more information on this new bait.

Boating Safety

New boating safety item that takes the place of a flare kit. This electronic flare, unlike the regular flares, that are required for all boats over 16 feet or boats operated at night, this light does not need to be replaced every 3 years. Just install 2 new c cell batteries every spring and you meet all of the Coast Guard requirements. It flashes the " SOS " signal and will operate for up 60 hours on 1 set of batteries. These flares are available at Mr. Outboard's Marine in DePere, Wisconsin. for right around $100.

Walleyes on the 4th

Great day of walleye fishing this morning down on the southern end of Door County. Walleyes of all sizes bit all morning in 25 to 30 feet of water. Deep Husky Jerks in blue and silver, purple and Tennessee shad all caught their share. Ran baits behind the Offshores from 70 to 90 feet using snap weights to get to the right depths. Great way to enjoy the 4th of July.

Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you just about everywhere.

Along with that I have a fishing report that airs on 5 radio stations daily.
